Jellyfish Longboard

During the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, I, like so many, turned to fun projects as a way to cope with the events going on in the world. This was my first attempt at a skateboard, which I designed and fabricated with pretty much no skateboarding experience. It sounded like a fun project that would teach me new skills, so I went for it! I learned how to laminate veneer using a vacuum press to create a durable and flexible deck, and I learned about the hardware used in different kinds of skateboards. I also got to do some fun painting and match the wheels to the deck art.

The longboard turned out great, and I rode it to school and around my parents neighborhood off and on for the last two years of high school. Click through the images for process description!
