Jet 14” Bandsaw Throat Plate

This was a very quick project I did for my dad to improve his sawdust collection setup on his Jet 14” bandsaw. He had previously drilled holes in the throat plate so that the sawdust generated near the blade could be sucked down into the collection system below, but since the throat plate is a consumable (even if a slow-wear one), he wanted a 3D printable model that he could print more of whenever he needed and that already has the holes in it. Taking advantage of my student SolidWorks license before it expires now that I have graduated, I modeled the throat plate in about 10 minutes and hit print. In addition to the sawdust collection holes, I added a shallow guide line for where to cut the blade gap and a divot to line up on the cutting jig. The guide line isn’t cut into the model itself because cutting it with the blade in the bandsaw allows for better tolerancing. The bandsaw has a small pin on one side that mates with one of the semicircle cutouts in the throat plate to prevent much rotation. This was a very simple but very quick and satisfying project!
